Celebrating two iconic characters

Work / The Royal Mint / Wallace & Gromit

The Royal Mint and Aardman teamed up on a commemorative 50p coin to celebrate 30 cracking years of Wallace & Gromit.

Designed by Nick Park, the coin depicts Wallace & Gromit and the outer shell of the rocket ship that took them to the moon in A Grand Day Out. The coin also features the Latin inscription ‘CASEUS PRAESTANS’, which translates to ‘cracking cheese’.

Needless to say it was an absolute pleasure to film at Aardman Studios.

Nick Park shaped both mine and Rob's childhood through Wallace & Gromit's early adventures and - like many of our projects - it was a privilege to work on this and meet him in his studio.

And it's not every day you get to direct an Oscar-winning director...
